So there is this problem that says: "Write an equation to model each equation."

then....

1. the total cost is the number of cans times $.70.
2. the perimeter of a square equals 4 times the length of a side.
3. The total legnth of rope, in feet, used to put up tents is 60 times the number of tents.
4. What is the number of slices of pizza left from an 8-slice pizza after you have eaten some slices??

please help and explain(:

well the first looks pretty easy, the total cost [t] is, or equals, number of cans [c], times .70 cents.
so. t = .70c
does that make sense?

for the second..
permimeter [p] of a square equals 4 times the length of a side [l].
so. it would be p = 4l
perimeter is 4 times length.

third.
length of the rope, i'll call l [for length] is [equals] 60 times [multiplcation] number of tents [n].
l = 60n

fourth.
number of slices of pizza [n] left from an 8 slice pizza after you ate some [p].
so it would be..
n = 8 - p
because the number of slices left equals 8 minus the slices you ate [p].

i hope this all made sense.

1. Let c = the # of cans. Cost = 0.70 * c
2. Let s be the length of the side of a square. Perimeter of the square = 4 * s
3. Let t = # of tents. Length of rope used = 60 * t
4. Let n = # of slices you ate. Slices left = 8 - n

Just put the sentence into a math equation.
1. Let x= the number of cans and y= the cost
y=x times .70
2. let p= perimeter and x= lenth of a side
p=4 times x
3. let x= length of rope and y equal the # of tents
x=60 times y
4. let x= slices left and y= slices eaten
x=8-y

Just make sure you state in your answer what each variable represents like I did above

1- total cost = (number of cans) x .70
2- perimeter of a square =4x(length of one side)
3- (total legnth of rope)=60x (number of tents)
4- (number of slices of pizza left)=8-(you have eaten)

1.) Call the number of cans x. Then the total cost is .7*x

2.) Call the perimeter P and each side L. Then P=4*L

Now -YOU- get busy and figure out the rest of them so yu actually learn the material.
