I know Pink Floyd's Animals was based on the book Animal Farm by George Orwell. I've heard that the song Ramble On by Led Zepplin was based on The Hobbit. What are some others???

(I like to listen to music while I read and it is fun to listen to songs that relate to the book I am reading.)

The song "The Ghost of Tom Joad" on the album of the same name by Bruce Springsteen is based on a film which is based on the book "The Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck.

That's the only one I can think of right now, I'll add more if I think of them.

Edit:
The song "Amie" by Damien Rice makes reference to the french novel "The Story of O".

The song "Neon Bible" on the album of the same name by The Arcade Fire makes heavy reference to the novel "Neon Bible" by John Kennedy Toole.

"Sylvia Plath" by Ryan Adams: This one isn't base on a book, but rather on novelist and poet Sylvia Plath, with many of the song's lyrics making allusions to events in her life.
