LOL....I think you're out of luck in the scary Halloween movie department with those kind of restrictions on it.

However, if you can lift some of those restrictions or "fudge" them a little bit:

Hubby suggests Halloween III "Season of the Witch". It is rated R. It is about an evil toy maker who makes Halloween masks because he's out to kill all the kiddies out on Halloween. Michael Myers is no where in this movie.

What is the reasoning for the restrictions? Strict religious family (no Hell) connotations and under age? (Can't be rated R)?

The Universal Monster Legends series. They have boxed sets of the Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman, Mummy, and Creature from the Black Lagoon movies. Newer horror movies will be rated R. If scary is not necessary, the Halloweentown movies and Hocus Pocus are GREAT Halloween movies!!

Go for the classics.

The original Dracula, The Original Frankenstein, the Original Wolfman. All from Universal Studios back in the early 30s. Yes they did make horror movies back before girls had to take their clothes off and lots of blood and guts.

Dracula is probably the best of the lot... it was made back before they had film scores so instead of music in the background there are lots of creepy silences.

The original NOSFERATU might be good too. I haven't seen it in a while, but it is pretty creepy You can check it out here

Get the ones made in the 1930s. They are scary, don't have any foul language, are usually well acted, and are PG rated.

The Mummy. King Kong. The Werewolf. Frankenstein. Dracula. and many others.

Carrie! It's a classic. Or Rocky Horror Picture Show....more cheesy than scary, but good.

...I believe on ...either "FX"....or "fox".......or maybe even TBS....they show all scary movies on halloween, even the week leading up to halloween, check your local tv listings, .....and since they're on tv, ....they've all been edited but they're still pretty good. Have fun!! and HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO YA!

October 31st is also Reformation Day, so perhaps a movie like "Luther" is in order.
