I wish to completely remove Norton AV, however the above is stuck in the folder and can't be deleted.

I hate norton, it quite literally stains your PC with more problems than those it solves!

Thanks, i'm not interesting in alternative AV recommendations, that's not the problem i'm having, if it was i'd say please recommend an AV program?

Sheesh.

Try ending the process yourself, it doesn't, i really wouldn't be asking if it did :)

Apologies, i should be more annoyed with Mr Norton :)

I have had the same issue removing Norton, It cratered a machine and I couldn't get it out. I finally found that they have a tool. Have you tried it?

Just pick which Norton and try it, you can't get any more messed up than you are now. Once that has run you should be able to reboot and kill the rest of the stuff they leave. Don't know why they leave stuff if you remove them but they do!. Wonderful isn't it!

Check the site for manual/and or removal instructions...Without knowing which version you had or your OS I could not give an exact page....

How to manually uninstall Norton SystemWorks 2002 or 2003 from Windows XP
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/sunset-c2002kb.nsf/0/fb8c50ffa5e374e285256edf00520eb8?OpenDocument

Do a search from the above link to find instructions for the exact version and OS you have...

You could also go into safe mode and try to delete...Reboot..When computer is starting and before the windows screen tap F8...Select safe mode...Try deleting...To exit safe mode reboot
