It doesn't have very good suction anymore like it used to. And I'm pretty sure it's the filter. But how do I change it? Please help!

The rainbow doesn't have a filter.
Under the vacuum cleaner itself, you;ll find a white plastic cup type thing with a lot of holes around it.(look like lines up and down) Sorry.but I can't remember what the part is called. There is a screw in the middle of the cup which you need to remove and take the cup off.The lines (holes) get plugged and need to be cleaned so it can breath. It's likely pretty dirty,so soak it for a bit in warm water and then take an old toothbrush to clean it out.
You should be doing this regularly.I was told to do this when I bought my machine 15 years ago.
Hope my explanation has helped.I think the part is called an impeller but don't quote me on that. lol.
It's directly under the vacuum that fits over the basin.

Both the girls are correct, in that the machines don't have filters. However, cleaning the "separator", which is what the small finned cup is called, won't increase the vacuum. It's function is simply to keep moisture from entering the vacuum motor. There are several areas where these machines wear and start to lose suction, such as at the hose connection point to the water tank, also the hoses themselves often crack and start to leak vacuum. Check the vacuum at the tank opening without any water in it and the hose off to see if there's plenty of vacuum there. If so, then the hose or possibly the connection, or both are suspect.

The Rainbow doesn't have "a filter" to be changed. The filter is the water tank, which is snapped on (on both sides) to the bottom of the motor (generator). The dirty water is poured out after each use, and the little tank is dried.
You add water to it (up to the pin sticking up in the middle) when you're ready to vacuum, snap it back together, and off you go.

rainbows do have internal filters that need to be changed or cleaned, this is what a dealer does when you take it in to be cleaned. One is a hepa-filter.
