No I had dial up before and I hated it. It takes for ever to load up pages its a joke. I would recommend that you even get dsl or cable high speed internet that way your computer is always connected to the web whenever its on, its a lot faster, and you don't have to wait for the computer to dial out and tie up the phone line, sometimes the phone will ring and disconnect the internet which really is a pain. Good Luck

That depends on where you live, what is available, and how much downloading you do!

Where I live, there is 1 dsl option, 1 satellite option (more expensive than dsl), and dial up is less than 1/4 the cost of dsl, FROM SEVERAL SOURCES. I download very little.

Therefore, for me, dial up is sufficient.

Hello kelleygaither2000,

Obviously for speed, anything is faster than dial-up (including tethering your computer to a cell phone), but paying an ISP $9.95/month versus paying for DSL plus paying for an ISP is very expensive. Broadband, where I come from is in the neighborhood of $25-$45/month plus you still have to have some kind of ISP.

So just going by price alone, that might be the only option for dial-up, but that's it.

It is sometimes cheaper. Comcast offers $5 a month DSL in some areas though, so you can't really beat that price.
