Nothing is ever that simple as it pertains to human emotions. I would imagine it would also have a great deal to do with your definition of happiness. If it is a smile in perpetuity that one shows the world I would say that person is a bit off their rocker! In the face of despair or unhappiness, if one can keep a level head and not drown in their real or perceived misery...that, too, can be happiness of a sort. Happiness can mean contentment and even when faced with the death of a loved one, a person can be content knowing that person lived a full life or content believing there must surely be a reason for one to have died so soon. For me, happiness is the contentment of knowing I am exactly where I am supposed to be on any given day of my life...no matter what the day brings.

In the West, we love that which is complicated and complex. We love the long and tedious soluton over the simple or elegant one. Why write a pamphlet of tips or suggests, when you can write a book or an encyclopedia.
Happiness is so easy, but one must be willing to accept there are very simple answers to some of the larger questions in being human and being alive.

happiness is still shaped by your environment. Let say, you would not be happy if you lose a match or an important competition or bid. Just say that you want to win or get it so badly for a long time but you failed to get it. happy? I think it is also shaped by the people around you and your priorities. people have different priorities and direction. although there are in the same place. and when the priorities are not achieved, will you be happy?
even when you are happy, and then suddenly bad news comes to you. something important to you than your initial happiness contibutor, would you still be happy? even if you chose to be happy? will it be a sincere and honest happiness.
Yes you can choose. But it is still you who decides. Are you honestly happy or not.

Yes.
It is very simple.
But the conditioning by our,
parents, teachers, community, race, religion etc.etc....
we have lost all simplicity in life.
Everything is complicated.
An infant without the above-mentioned conditioning is happy.
There are adults who live their '"normal"' life as required by the "society"- yet have gone back and achieved happiness and peace in their lives.
Because we think (with our complicated mind ) that happiness is not simple it will be always so.
Does money give happiness and peace of mind?
Does power;
does religion;
does anything give us the peace, contentment and fulfilment -which is already within us?
'society'

no and yes... happiness is based on personal emotion. life is a roller coaster... everything doesn't always go as one plans. To say that you are happy no matter what is a lie. you're always going to have moments where things get to heavy on your shoulders... it's all about mental strength and whether or not you WANT to come out of the situation happy. So I guess I just proved that the answer to your question is yes.. haha ha.. It's only my opinion though.. everyone feels different about things.. we all see with different eyes.

I would think that is Pollyannaism as you call in English......this sort of attitude is somewhat a good trait to own,but in some cases,I would imagine it would prevent you from making the right decision to handle a serious matter.......or it may cause some psychological disorders to mask your true feelings all the time to try to be happy.
Having tears in one's eyes,sobbing or bursting
into tears may make them very happy and relaxed more than you can imagine.

Some people seem to think so. It is possible to choose to be happy. You choose how you will interpret things everyday. Some people interpret things negatively (pessimist) and some people interpret things positively (optimist). It may be hard to train your brain, but it can be done.
I have bipolar disorder and I have noticed that when I am feeling good I am an optimist and when I am feeling depressed I am a pessimist. I try to change how I think of things and that usually helps me to feel a little better.

happiness is not something thats short term. it is a long term goal. this doesnt mean u have to be happy for 24 hours a day, but it means u only have minor setbacks and are overall a happy and optimistic person. also happiness is a state of mind, the poorest person could be truly happy.
