That is almost a certainty. The Worst Witch is a book and was first published in 1974. And there is a heck of a lot of information that is way too similar. JK was not living on the streets and wrote frequently in the children's section of a library. I wonder why. Want to see all the parts she ripped off??http://www.geocities.com/sayswamp/worst.htm

Actually, it wasn't a movie (I guess they may have made it into a movie...not sure), it was a tv series. And, if I'm correct it was created in the UK. I just recently found out the tv series was based on a book (or books), because I've read one of them, and yes it was very similar to Harry Potter. It's very possible JK stole the idea, but really, there are many similarities between books out there. I'm also sure Worst Witch wasn't the first book(s) about witches out there.

I checked out the link from hellcat, and find it to be just a way to try drag J.K down. I bet they are the only two movies ever made where the main character has a best friend, an evil teach, and an enemy. They just both happen to take place at wizard schools, so they seem similar. I'm sure Harry Potter is 1000 times better anyway.

The concept of a school to teach magic is a fairly common one really, so the idea didn't not have to originate with this one story. I'm sure elements of the story were inspired by other literature, but that can be said of most things written these days. J.K. Rowling's real gift was the rich characters and real world feeling to her stories. You don't get caught up on the events of her books as much as you get caught up in the people in the book. So sure, maybe she was influenced by other things while writing, but I'm sure almost every successful writer would have to admit the same thing.

JK Rowling seems to be a highly educated and literate woman. There are innumerable references to classical myths and legends, and to other books, throughout the series. That cannot be a coincidence.

"The Worst Witch" was a series of books before any movie was made. It is conceivable that Ms Roweling knew of them. However, apart from the existence of witches and a boarding school, there is little else common to the books.

I highly doubt that ... why on earth would Rowling watch the Disney Channel? (Do they even have the Disney Channel over there? lol). Also, I think her idea for Harry Potter came out way before this movie.

It was book originally, and I'm sure JKR had read it, so may have got ideas from it, but she didn't steal them! Authors can't make up every single thing they write, they are influence by everything the read, hear and see around them, so yes she may been influenced by The Worst Witch (which was a good show, not as good as the new version they've got now) she did not get the idea totally from it.

I don't and you shouldn't either if you really think that you're a realistic person. She got the idea while daydreaming on a train from manchester to Edinbourough. She didn't have anything to write her idea on so she sat there for 4 hours and thought it out. It was on her A&E biography. Shes a fantastic novelist and will probably become one of the best writers of our time. She's not the type to copy.

one million. I ensue to disagree, and that i'm unlikely to argue lots. there is only not something to declare. She infrequently suggested Neville and his toad in any respect. Fred and George have been comedian alleviation. Hagrid became significant--Voldemort became making plans to around up the giants, Hagrid mandatory to end them. Plus, he delivered Harry to the Dursleys. Luna and Ginny have been significant--they have been the two style of heroines. Ginny became Harry's (unexpected, for my section) love interest, alongside with being a important fighter in a great style of the battles. The Maurauders have been significant--all of them started the map and have been betrayed via Wormtail. i will call off rather some different minor characters who have been rather significant to the plot. 2. Er...properly, you're of course exaggerating slightly. Luna did say some especially unusual issues, yet it is critical to her character and how she develops. different than that...properly, i think of you may desire to be greater particular. Harry did not comprehend on the subject of the wizarding international for 11 years; he had lots to income. individually, i think of the novels and communicate have been very quickly-paced. i did not think of the conversations lingered to lots, and in the event that they did, they have been especially unique. i got here across this question slightly weird and wonderful. 3. Nope. that's what's so, so impressive approximately Harry Potter. there became only lots, lots coaching, and on the very, very end, all of it made sense--each and every thing got here mutually. each and every thing. each and each ingredient that surpassed off in each and each novel became significant to the main effective conflict, from Fred and George giving Harry the Maurauder's Map to Umbridge helping the Ministry to Aberforth having the different 0.5 of the mirror. Even Neville's tale! You complained approximately him--why became he so awkward, why did he stay along with his grandmother? His mom and father have been Aurors, and that they've been tortured via Bellatrix, her husband, his brother, and Crouch. each and every thing mattered, and that's what's so impressive on the subject of the series. it is so impressive which you fairly could desire to examine it lower back to get it--and that's exactly what I propose you do.
