I don't have a taskbar, like the bar at the bottom of your screen that has the start button n stuff. I have absolutely no desktop... like no image or icons just a blank white screen. I don't have the scrollbar thing when I touch the side of my touchpad on this laptop... my default settings like the appearance for my computer has obviously been removed... I can no longer control the sound cause when I turn it up it doesn't work...

was it hacked?
help me find out whats wrong pleasee

If upper post still does not work, your OS could be really messed up. If it is XP, try this repair that leaves ALL files INTACT.

Then boot to SAFE mode and scan for virus, preferably twice w/ different anti-virus.

I suggest you turn it on while tapping F8 ,this ill bring it into a black screen with options such as safe mode ,highlight safe mode hit enter and wait for the system to load the drivers ,when it gets to the main screen click on your user name if it asks you for one and the click no and the prompt to launch system restore and try and restore it to a day u remeber it was working correctly if there are any saved

Has the laptop been dropped ? virus ? operating system problem ? video card ? screen problem ? ram problem ? I would try another monitor on it a CRT, I would also put my ear right up to the laptop and listen for the hard drive to boot up, the reason for the CRT monitor is so you can listen for the CRT to have power, the power to go to the tube from the flyback distribution.

Is the monitor plugged in? The cable that goes from the monitor to the computer tower plugs in both ends. The white screen is powered by the monitor.
