No way! Jose Reyes is in my opinion the best. Derek Jeter is fine though, that I agree with ya.

Jeter is a top short stop but not the best. A-Rod is actually better and then Caberra is awesome too from LA.A.
The best up an coming youngster who has actually been playing a few years now is Jose Reyes, he has great range, awesome arm and the more he bats the better he gets at that too. He is maturing and progressing, He is already the top base stealer in the Majors once his batting average becomes more consistently over 310 to 320 he will be another MVP player for the Mets along with Beltran and Wright. The Mets have some speedy youngsters coming too for the outfield so Im sure Reyes will be a great influence on them, which also makes him a truely awesome player.

I give Jeter his well deserved props as a ballplayer, and I DONT like the Yankees. Jeter has proven himself clutch, and cool under pressure time and time again; hes a first ballot Hall of Famer. But now some of the young guns have caught up to him. The trio of Ramirez, Rollins, and Reyes are every bit the match for the great one from the Bronx. Renteria is having a great season, and this kid Tulowitzki seems to be the real deal as well. Mr. Jeter has some company at the top. Someone mentioned John McDonald. I havent seen him but thats not the first time that I've heard somebody rave about his glovework. His offense seems to lag behind his glove though. The same could be said about Alex Gonzalez of the Reds. Great glove, not enough 'O' to group him with the top all around guys.

Jeter isn't even the best shortstop on his team. The only reason ARod isn't at short is because Jeter helped win Titles for the Yanks. If it wasn't for the October success that the Yankees had, years and years ago, Jeter would be considered good, but not even close to the best in the game. People need to get off ARods case about lack of postseason success. What has Jeter done without Brossius, ONiell, Clemens (not the washed up bum they have now), Pettit (see Clemens), etc. Nothing. Jeter is only as good as the team around him.

Jeter is barely even average defensively at short, and he's above average offensively. Omar Visquel has a nifty glove, but his range has deteriorated a TON, there is no way on God's green earth he is the best defensive shortstop.
Jimmy Rollins is better offensively and defensively (MUCH better range, and a very nifty glove.)
Carlos Guillen is also the better all around SS.
But you're a woman yankee just looking for comments of 'Yah JETER rocKZ, he'Z SO HoT!!!1' so I'll just stop here.

Derek Jeter isn't even the best shortstop on his TEAM! A-Rod is.
Omar Vizquel probably deserves the title.. although he is getting old and I think it will eventually belong to Jose Reyes.

Not a chance......
Try looking at other SS's......Michael Young, Jose Reyes, Jimmy Rollins, Hanley Ramirez, Carlos Guillen, etc.
Jeter is not the best all-around shortstop in the league.
Bring on the thumbs down Yankee fans, but you gotta face it. Jeter is a great player, but not THE best.

Well since im a yankee fan i have to say YES HE IS, but as a baseball fan, i would have to agree with bigjohn and say the giants shortstop, he is overlooked, and many rookies, or players that arent in front of a camera all the time are very overlooked and they have good talent, Kinda like when Melky cabrera and Robinson cano came to the yanks, but hey thats just my opinion, he is the best, no other shortstop can do wut he does so professionally.

No. Even if you only count offensive stats (as Jeter isn't exactly a defensive whiz), his OPS this year ranks below Hanley Ramirez, Edgar Renteria, Carlos Guillen, Troy Tulowitzki, and Miguel Tejada.

I would have to say either J.J Hardy of the brewers or Hanley Ramirez of the marlins. Both are young have excellent defensive skills and are above average with the bat.
