I was thinking about moving to Clevelend next summer. Anyone care to tell me how it is? Is there a good music scene and lots to do? How about cost of living / job outlook and all that? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

To get the whole picture you have to look at the pros and cons. Cleveland has a lot of entertainment and a great metropark system. Plenty of jobs if you're in the right field such as medical. But then again you can get a job anywhere in the US in that field. The rest of the people are not so lucky.
Here are some facts about Cleveland that you need to know before you make your decision to move.

1. Cleveland was ranked as #1 poorest city in the US twice it has jumped up to #4 this year.....let's party!
2. The unemployment rate is 5.8 % (4.6%US)
3. Population growth is -4.9% (the trend is to move out of Cleveland if at all possible)
4. Cost of living is 21.73% lower than the national average.
5. There are at least 11 gangs within the city of Cleveland.
6. The murder rate is 4 times the national average.

Your best bet will be to either live in the suburbs of Cleveland or even better, outside of Cuyahoga county.

I am a huge fan of Cleveland. I moved to Chicago, and than to San Diego, and I came back here. The people are fantastic. The area is beautiful. Cleveland is situated in the foothills of the Appalachain Mts. on the North Coast of the USA. There is a ton to do here. Rock Hall, Science Center, Pro Sports, The local Music scene is awesome, any style you like. The Cleveland Plain Dealer has a Friday magazine that lists literally thousands of local bands and bars to check out. Cost of living is awesome. Very inexpensive to live. Lots of apartments or affordable houses. Head to the suburbs for the safest areas. Jobs are plentiful in Medical and Technology. Again the big newspaper is the Plain Dealer (Cleveland.com) for all the job listings. There is so much more that I cant even continue. Good luck!!

There are a lot of things to do in Cleveland. They are making a lot of changes so the actual city will be improving over the next couple of years. If you're not in the medical field there really aren't any jobs here. Someone told you to check out Cleveland.com that's a good place to look, but jobs are scarce. We have beautiful summers, but why not check out the winters you may not want to come. Good luck.

Other answer has old stats. Buffalo is the new poorest city and Detroit is #2. Cleveland probably sky rocketed to #3 or something.

Cleveland is a good city. It has it's bad sections with lazy citizen's who would rather beg/steal than work but you find that in most major cities. The suburbs are fantastic. The sports and music scene is the best between Philly and Chicago.

Sorry, I would not move to Cleveland. The economy stinks, the Browns , well they won today but generally suck. Employment forecast for the area is poor. The Weather well we are already looking for frost and it snows like the dickens!

i personally grew up in a cleveland suburb, and i can say that if you do decide to come to cleveland, you should live in a suburb at least 20 minutes outside of downtown cleveland. that way, youre in way better and safer cities, and you still have access to downtown with the things like the museums and the sporting events and concerts.

solon is nice, albeit expensive.

i currently live and go to school in kent, and although its closer to akron than anything, theres alot of stuff to do around here.

If you have a choice, stay away from Cleveland, Buffalo and Detroit. There are many other cities in US to pick from that are far better choices. Why would you shoot yourself in the foot?
