No, but you may have better connections to get into the elite private schools if you went to a private high school. As a public school graduate you will still have plenty of options.

Look at the rankings of colleges. You will find that there are lots of public universities near the top and lots of private universities that are near the top.
But there are lots of both types that are near the bottom as well.
In general, I don't think that one is better or worse than the other.
