Dreams are twisted version of happenings. You can infer something but to get a meaningful idea and to believe that they definitely point to something would land you in unrealistic situation.

No, because when you are dreaming what you are seeing is a true representation of your throughts, but a false representation of the world (the real representation would be your bed etc). On the other hand, when you are awake, what you are seeing is both a true representation of thought and the world (hopefully, if you don't have any mental illness or manipulative demon controlling your perception)
