I am a Democrat and I would choose B. The problem is that B is pure wishful thinking on your part. We have been trying to create a strong democracy in Iraq for six years, and have been doing an extremely poor job. What makes anyone think that this will suddenly change?

Iraq, like Vietnam, has become one of those arguments that nobody can win. Bush will keep banging his head against the wall for another year, and then when he finally has to stop or leave office, he will blame the Democrats for not staying the course. He will never accept responsibility for the fiasco that he created. But I for one would have been happy for him to have succeeded, and it is a tragedy that we instead seem to have made the situation worse in that part of the world.

C: Iraqis take responsibility for themselves, as conservatives would want considering the self responsibility mantra and being on your own to fend for yourself, US out of the Middle East taking away the reason for the terrorists attacking the US in the first place, troops withdrawn quickly, Dems win in '08 in a landslide.

How do fail at something when there was never any possibility of success?

Good lord this is another false choice from your friendly ditto head moron of the neighborhood. These are not the only two choices as you know.

How about this. Disengage from this quagmire and fallback in strength to use our force in intelligent and surgical methods while we back our friends and back the enemies of our enemy. You know, like our best president of the modern age had accomplished, Bill Clinton.

By the way the senate is in extreme risk for the repulblicans and it is almost certain that both houses of congress will be a significant majority for the dems after the next election since so many republican seats are up( 2 to 1 versus the dems ). And, perhaps the whitehouse too followed by the supreme court. It will be a glorious day for America.

C. Failed democracy in Iraq. US is NOT defeated, only Bush's empire building agenda. US was wounded on 9-11 not in withdrawing from a ''war'' that had nothing to do with it. Terrorist cells still prevalent inside Iraqi borders, yet US is protected by improved domestic policy and port / border security measures, rendering terrorist cells in Iraq, and around the world irrelevant (To US security). Democrats win elections in 2008 and 2012 by a landslide. Bush is jailed. Cheney is jailed. Wolfowitz is jailed. Rove is jailed. All environmental policy struck down by Bush is re-instated. All corporations-first policies are struck down and law is returned to years before he ruined America.

Neither one of of those things is going to happen...ever so neither. We are not going to let terrorists take over Iraq but there is never going to be a strong democracy there either. I would go somewhere in between those two.

As a registered Democrat I will answer as if I still have faith in either of the two parties.
I would choose B, as ultimately either gets the troops home immediately, if the Republican candidate in question can lay out in detail how he would accomplish this.
It is more complicated than just A. or B. though and I suspect you know this but given the limited choices I would go with B.

Sorry, this war was not meant to win but only advance the PNAC war for ever concept. We might as well go ahead and drop some nukes if you want it over with!

Democrats would accept either, as long as it resulted in them being in charge. This whole thing has nothing to do with patriotism or honor or a desire to win, or a desire to end terrorism or any noble purpose, whatsoever. It has everything to do with power. They want to be in control, and they don't care what they have to do to gain control. They don't even hate Bush, they hate the fact that he was elected and they weren't.
