How long did it take? How old was the first child? Did you or they use any herbs or anything? I'm breastfeeding my 2 month old, but I wanted to TTC #2 soon. I don't want to stop breastfeeding my daughter just to get my cycle back..it's not fair to her. I just want some hope! I want to have her a sibling close in age to her.

My sister in law nursed her first kid for 5 years. She got pregnant while breastfeeding, and had a second kid 3 years after the first. Then she breastfed the 2 together.

I have another friend with 11 kids. She breastfed each for a few years, and often got pregnant while breastfeeding.

I would wait, personally. Give your body a rest. It just went through something traumatic, and I personally think it would be better to wait a couple of years so you're not pregnant and trying to chase after a little maniac that falls down and bumps their head a lot. It's hard enough to try to take care of the normal stuff and keep a baby that's learning to crawl and walk out of trouble without having to try to do it when you can't even bend over. They get so energetic, and when you're pregnant, you don't have that much energy to keep up, remember that? In my personal opinion, just wait until you're done breast feeding to even try to conceive again, so you can focus on the wonders of your new little one, without getting distracted by another on the way.

The midwives assured my daughter that as long as she breastfed, she wouldn't conceive again easily. I warned that the women in our family are quite fertile but she gave the midwives the benefit of the doubt. She had my grandchildren in 1995,1996,and 1997 and made the whole thing look rather silly.

My sister was breastfeeding when she conceived her second daughter. They're 10 months apart. They're so close, if one's nose tickles, the other one sneezes.
