Yes I have.
I used to box when I was younger, and I've had my nose broken several times. It was never the same, and even the two doctors that I had couldn't set it correctly.
Through one of these breaks I acquired what's known as a deviated septum, causing an obstruction of the nasal passage.
When I was a cocky 17 year old, I had a confrontation with an older fellow (about 30). It was good fight, and I faired pretty well actually, even though he was the successor, and he did connect with a couple good solid jabs to my nose.
The fight stemmed from me being a smart a** kid, and just looking for trouble.
Awhile after the fight, when the swelling went down on my nose, I realized that it wasn't crooked anymore and I seemed to be able to breathe much more freely through it as well.
This guy did with a couple jabs what two doctors couldn't achieve over the course of three surgeries!
After having time to think, I also realized that I was wrong, and acted immaturely during the events leading up to the fight.
I then apologized to this man, and thanked him for re-setting my nose, partially correcting my deviated septum, and teaching me a valuable life lesson.
I really learned a lot from that experience, and I think that was when I really grew up. I went from being a boy to being a man that summer.
The fellow who fixed my nose was my boxing coach, and future brother in law. We still laugh about it all these years later!
Edit - I recognize the 'About Me' section on your homepage. Isn't that 'The Ones' song 'Flawless'?
I used to be kooky for Coco Puffs! Do they still make them?

Think it, but don't say it.
Return good for evil without expecting them to appreciate it.
It "plants a seed" in them, which may grow into a wonderful change some day (but the Bible says "one waters, and another one reaps the harvest") so don't expect sudden conversion!
They will think you are still trying to win the argument and say, "Sarcasm gets you no where".
No good deed goes unpunished on this sin-cursed planet...but "no good deed goes unrewarded" (in the after-life) in the end!

I haven't thanked them but realised that most bad things that happen are for good reasons although I might think I am being hard done by at the time with hindsight its always the case that it was for the best x

I worked for a mate who I had known for many years. He eventually sacked me because his wife was a dictator and giving out the orders. I thanked him because it taught me not to trust anyone in life (even your best friend). He is divorced from her now!

Yes I have. One of my old boyfriends who used to treat me really bad, he was always so abusive. It helped me realise more about myself. Yeah he made me lose all my confidence and my self esteem but it may me realise I didn't need anyone, that I can do whatever I put my mind to.
