That can vary, depedning on whether the tank is a 20 long (30 x 12 x 12) or a 20 high (24 x 12 x 16). all measurements are in inches, and are lenght, x width x height.

A standard 20 gallon is 20 inches across, 12 inches front to back, and 18 inches high. But are you talking about a standard tank or a long tank?
