I say he used unethical cryptography. That's the reason why only a few lines can be deciphered in each message. When you check it out, only some of it makes sense.

Also, he did not follow the same rule for the entirety of each message. It is at all possible that he actually screwed up his own code, or that he was using random letters to make the messages appear longer. He was just playing and didn't want to give enough details, only enough for a phrase in each.
