Ok I was looking to buy a desktop but then I decided to buy a laptop instead. I just need your opinion if this laptop is good.
Is this a average laptop?
I know it says ram is not upgradeable but it is I read the customer reviews and it says it is upgradeable and is the ram good?
How good is the prcessor?
Is the hardrive good enough to watch movies?
How good is the video card?
Will I only need a router or I'll need additional stuff?
What softwares are there that I need?
Would you buy if you were 15 and didn't have a lot of money?
Other things I need to know?
Heres the link http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=999976800050001&type=product&id=pcmprd76700050001
I know it is sold out but I'll get it when they get more. I'm only going to use it for web browser, word processing, downloading and burning movies.
P.S. I'm not really a noob just want your opinions because I never had a laptop.

1. No. It is bellow average. But it is cheap....
2. I would not advise trying to upgrade the RAM, but you probably *could* do it without too much risk. It would probably void the warranty.
3. Good for the price.
4. One DVD-quality movie will be about 7 GB, so don't plan on storing much on there.
5. There is none. It leeches off the rest of your hardware to get the pictures onto your screen. Don't plan on doing any gaming or high def movie playback (anything higher quality than DVDs).
6. You will only need a router if you want wireless internet access in your house. You will, of course, need to pay the Internet subscription fees as well.
7. See 9.
10. Perhaps. I would go for a desktop so I could get more speed, but that is just me.
11. It is not advisable to run Windows on that computer (well, even less advisable than on most). Windows is too bloated, and it is too slow. Just grab a copy of Ubuntu Linux. It is a much better operating system, and will run on slower hardware. I run it on my computer even though I can easily run Vista. It is simply better.
Ubuntu is free software, as is almost all software for it.

HP and Compaq merged about five years ago. Same computer just marketed differently. Like Dodge and Chrysler.
A good budget LT from a top seller. If you can't wait you can order it from HP;
Compaq C500T - $450

Pentium dual core processor T2080 +$55

No! Compaq is at the BOTTOM of a long list of reliable computers. Please buy anything but that. It has been my experience that HP, Gateway and Panasonic are pretty reliable. Dell is iffy and Compaq is just horrible. Apple is great as well.
I've worked with the public and computers for over 14 years and I'd gladly join the chuck the Compaq's in the Toilet committee and even volunteer to work overnights without pay. They are that bad.
I LOVE my HP Entertainment notebook
I also was apprehensive about getting a laptop and making it my main computer after owning desktops forever. I haven't looked back nor regretted it for one second. There are no drawbacks!
Best wishes and have fun! Amazon has great reviews, by the way. You can just hop on their site and type in a product and read page after page of detailed, honest reviews.
Peace.

this is an average laptop, and its good for everyday school or office stuff, but you will not be able to play the best games, for example on this.
judging by your question though, i think you just awnt this for normal everyday use, and its perfectly fine for it. the video card looks like its integrated, so its not that good, but it can still play movies and such, but again, no good games (im talking about cs or cod type games)
the harddrive, well, look at it this way. its equivalent to 1.25 video ipods, the high end ones.
you only need a router if youre planning to use more than one computer in your house with the same network
software, well, only what you plan to use the laptop for. personally, id get microsoft office with word and powerpoint, but thats just me. maybe itunes too.
overall, id say buy it

Compaq is not a reliable computer brand, so you shouldn't take a chance getting one. Instead, you should consider getting a high quality Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092.
