I think you should not give up on math. You are
a hundred percent right though about not
being a failure. Different people understand things
in different ways. Sometimes the first explaination
you get is not given in the way you personally
learn things. Try to get answers from different people.
You could go to different teachers or to friends. But
always remember that if you don't understand something
in math it doesn't mean there's something wrong with
you. It may just mean it wasn't explained in a way that
fits your learning style. Good Luck.

Giving up for a time? But not necessarily giving up but postponing the subject for a time. Why not, specially when you have other more important things to do. You just can't have them altogether at once and at the same time. And it doesn't mean one doesn't want to deal with the subject anymore—it's just that one doesn't want to deal with it yet. Anyone could have priorities which need be attended to at once, ahead of the other, and could be a matter of life and death. Well, we don't know but everybody's free and I very well know that the one aside from me knows better what's best for him or herself in the same way that I know better what I'm supposed to do for and with myself than anybody else.

People like and excel in different things. Some like science, some like arts. Who is to judge others for what they choose to do or not do!
