Let's say it is Halloween (Trick-or-treat night). There is a home owner, that leaves his/her house when trick-or-treaters start going to houses. No one else is going to be home, and the home owner leaves a bucket full of candy, outside the front door. The home owner puts the bucket on a chair, with a note saying "Help yourself." With the front door light on, would it be rude for a trick-or-treater to dump the entire bucket of candy into their bag?

Has this ever happened to you, or have you ever dumped a bucket of cand into your bag?

I have never had this happen to me, nor have I done this, but yes, it would be rude and greedy to dump an entire bucket of candy into your bag. If I ever done this, I would be punished severely.

I don't think that leaving your house with a bucket full of candy and a sign saying "Help Yourself" is such a good idea anyway. There's bound to be teenagers not in costume and carrying suitcases, practically, and they'll be ready to take a big handful of candy at a moment's notice.

It would be rude, greedy, selfish, and inconsiderate of the homeowner and the trick-or-treaters who come after this little brat.

No, it's never happened to me. I've always stayed home to answer the door.

No, I would never have dumped an entire bucket into my bag. My parents did a better job of teaching me respect for others than that.

It is rude, and it is to be expected. Children and their parents are not respectful of boundaries or rules or being polite.

I give out full-size candy bars and have an array on a tray. I bend down and tell them "Take one". Once they realize what I'm giving, suddenly it's "Can I have two?" "Can I take one for my brother/sister/uncle etc?" I even had one tubbo move his arm to the back of the tray to swipe all the candy into his bag.

Better the homeowner leave the lights out when going away rather than a bucket of unsupervised candy. The first kid takes it all, and the rest get mad when the lights are on and nobody's answering. Who knows what they'll do in retaliation.

yes, it would be rude and greedy.
Then the other children would get none.
As a matter of fact I was just watching a video on youtube and they where taping kids for a Halloween gag. Anyway most of the children came up and took one or two candy. Then a mother and child come up and the child took one candy and the mother scooped up 2 big handfuls of candy!!
I was amazed that a mother would do that and how polite the children where for just taking one candy.

If you don't want to stay in and hand it out then that's just what happens.

It's happened to me plus the whole bucket was gone. I have dumped half in my niece's bag when we went a few years ago.

Of course it's "rude", but leaving a bunch of sugary treats unguarded, on a night when kids roam around town actively searching for these treats? The homeowner is just asking for it.

2) the note says they're gonna be gon ALL night
3) u barly have any candies
4) there isn't a sign saying 'take only 1, plez' or something
