For the last few months I have been lifting weights, but since I've been lifting weights my libido has decreased significantly - could lifting weights be related? Does any one else who lifts weights have this problem?

''Regulation of testicular production occurs via a negative feedback loop system involving the anterior pituitary, hypothalamus, and testicles; referred to as the hypothalamic- pituitary- testicular (HPT) regulatory axis.Lower testosterone levels have been noted in chronically endurance-trained males. Some reports reveal significant reductions in resting testosterone following 1 to 6 months of intensive training, while others found no significant resting testosterone changes after 2 to 3 months of training. prolactin levels are also altered. These findings of altered prolactin and LH levels at rest in endurance trained men with low testosterone have been labelled by some researchers as a dysfunction of HPT regulatory axis. It is also generally accepted that short-term maximal exercise results in an elevation of circulation testosterone levels''

You have been lifting weights.

You say nothing about diet or other exercise.

If you have started on weights, I presume it is mainly to gain mass.
You should have changed your diet as well. Don't forget that weights are aimed at a specific area and not general fitness.

Use a general fitness programme as well as weights, couple this with a balanced diet and you libido and energy levels will return.

You might want to ask about Cymbalta and Lexapro. Not all side effects affect everyone the same way. I was on Lexapro and had suicidal thoughts but had been on Prozac in the past and it was great for me. It didnt decrease my sex drive in fact it increased it. You are going to just have to try a few didfferent kinds before you find the right one that works for you. And remember that it takes a few weeks for these drugs to get into your system and really work. Also some of teh side effect might go away. Good Luck to you!

it is not possible. While lifting you spend up considerable energy and it may not be replenished. If you are dieting the effect may be more acute. You may have to take some energy supplement or tonic.I have seen those people who do weight lifting are voracious eaters!

Thats weird, because lifting weights are supposed to increase your pumps. Which allows more blood to flow through your body.

You need to balance your exercise with your eating habits.

Something is missing from your diet and you need to replace it.
