Medicine is a graduate degree. You need to get a bachelor's degree first. If you want to go to medical school -- you should go to the best college that you can get into. To do that, you need to get great grades and a good SAT score.

To the guy above me, sports medicine does not require a medical degree.
With Miami, the overall picture is VERY important. GPA, SAT scores, class rank, recommendations, essays, extracurricular activities, talent, character... everything is equally important. None of those are ignored.
The average GPA is a 4.04 and the average SAT scores:
critical reading 570-670
math 590-680
writing 620-700
and you absolutely have to be in the top half of your class.
Louisiana State is easier to get into. GPA and SAT scores are important but nothing else is as important. The average GPA is a 3.47 and the SAT scores:
critical reading 520-630
math 540-660
writing 580-670

Colleges like to see a well-rounded person.. Good grades, community service, extra-curricular activities.. I got into every college I applied to and it was a lot easier than I thought it would be.. Make sure to keep a list of the things you've done in high school, so that you don't forget them when filling out apps. Keep up your grades and start getting into clubs so when it's time to apply your senior year, you have a long list of stuff you've done.

My first question would be, what state do you live in? If you live in Louisiana, we have a program here called TOPS. After certain courses are taken in high school, certain ACT score, and all the necessary paperwork is filled out, they'll pay for your tuition. Also, if you graduate high school with a certain GPA, they'll give you extra money. I graduated high school with a 3.8 GPA. I was given the TOPS honors award. My tuition was paid for, and I was given extra money. However, with TOPS (esp. honors) you have to maintain a certain GPA in order to stay in the program.
