My guppy just had her fry today. The only fish in the tank with them is their mom and she has been trying to catch them but they swim away and hid in the plants or wedge themselves between the rocks on the bottom. I think they are safe from her but I would like to know when they will be big enough to not be eaten. Also is breaking up flake food really really small enough for them to eat?

Crumbled up flake food is fine for them - after it's been in the water for about a minute, it will soften enough for them to takes bites out of it, even if it is too big to start.

I've never used a breeder net with guppies, and as long as they have plants and places to hide in the tank, I've had plenty of fry survive. The only way to be certain that they aren't eaten is to separate them from the parents until they're too big to fit in their mouth.

particular they'd produce colourful fish looking on the colors of the daddy. 2) particular they'd, the smaller ones are the runts and could mostlikely continually be smaller till grownup hood. in simple terms save feeding all the fry 3=4 circumstances on a regular basis 3) they're probably from the comparable mom, the lighter coloured ones would be those which would be colourful and the darker ones will maximum probable appear as if the mummy. 4) around 4-6 months may be easiest 5) ones with curved spines or defective fins could be culled, and as colorings start to come lower back in around 2-3 months you are able to cull those you dont like or provide them to a lfs or pals

the female is just inquisitive of the you she will not eat the young but if u can u can always try separating the female from the young as mom will not interact with her young.

If you can not separate them you can try buying alot of plants and pack them in the tank so mum cant see the young.

To feed them yes they will take broken flake but you can also buy proper livebearer food for Fry and costs about £3.95. wen the young get about 0.5cm try feeding them mini bloodworm they love it and it will help their metabolism and growth rate.
