Someone told me I could buy fabric templates from a craft store.

go with a green cotton or linen.
you might be able to find the costume pattern at a craft store but don't count 100% on it to be specificaly for zelda.
you might need to look for a ladies blouse that is simular and make adjustments.

Whatever you decide on, make sure it is flame retardant; some fabrics are highly flammable, avoid those.
