I have a 19 month old and she has seemed to find her way out of everything. If you decide to use the highchair I would make sure to strap them in and push the tray as close to them as you can get it. And never leave them in there where you cant keep an eye on them. Even though you think they might not be able to get out they will suprise you trust me.

As long as the child is properly seat belted into the chair and they are never left unsupervised, I don't think it would be dangerous for a child to continue using a highchair past 11 months. Eventually they will hit the weight maximum or become to big to sit comfortably in the chair...at that point it's definitely time to move on.

Not so much dangerous, but some high chairs fit younger children much better than kids over a year. Your child should never be more than arms reach from you while in a high chair because they CAN tip it over! Anybody who says otherwise, should talk to emergency room doctors.

Once too big for the high chair, you can either choose a toddler chair or just get a child sized table and chairs and let the child eat from there. That's what my cousin and his GF do with their daughter. She eats at 5 and they eat at 7, so it works out.

My 18 months old is still in his, the only danger is that he has figured out how to stand up in it. However, he doesn't get to be unsupervised at dinner time, so I don't feel it is a huge danger.

Could be. When the kid's finally big enough to break them up & use them for kindling- I guess it's time to put them into storage for when the NEXT little Nimrod comes along... :)

Why would they be able to stand up??? Don't you have restraints? My daughter is 16mo. old and there is NO way she could stand up because I have her "clicked" in and the tray is there!
