As I understand it, when we store memories we store them in context of other things we have learned. At childbirth we have no where to store them.
Think of a room full of filing cabinets with no labels, we can store stuff but we have no way to find it again. As we grow and learn we put labels on the filing cabinets, but early memories stay unclassified.

I like the second answer you got, i'll just add, when we're babies our brains are tiny & like all things, need to develop into the state they where they can be fully functional. The nerves & nerve endings within our brain need to grow & connect to one another. Though our minds are always growing & developing, the process of memory storing & recollecting kicks in at the age of about 5. By this time the filing cabinets have attained labels so we can easily store & recall the "data". Some people are able to remember snippets of memory from as young as 2 & 3 years old.

It isn't just you; no one can.
It has to do with baby brains, I guess. Something about their not being well developed, yet.
I found the second answer you got interesting. I'm not sure that that's the whole story.
Hope you get more answers.
