Sounds like the choke is sticking on- giving it too much fuel when it warms up. Is this a push mower or tractor? When its running, remove the aircleaner assy and see if the choke plate is open or closed.

Sounds like the carburetor needs a good cleaning. If it is a small briggs engine it will be a diaphram carb fitted to the top of the fuel tank. The diaphram gives out after a few years and needs to be replaced. Rebuilt kits are $10-12 and easy to install.

My lawnmower (Honda) has a gasoline-decrease-off toggle. regardless of if this is not interior the ON place, the lawnmower stops after some seconds of working. you are able to desire to examine your proprietor's instruction manual for that, fairly if the lawnmower sounds like it runs ok in any different case.

Sounds like a fuel flow problem.
Check the vent cap on the fuel tank,
the fuel filter, and fuel line for blockages.

you may also want to check your fuel filter, and empty the gas tank and refill it. You may have something "sucking" up into the fuel line causing the gas to not flow correctly.

make sure you turn the choke off after a few minutes of it running. make sure it has gas and the right gas to oil ratio if it is a 2 stroke-which most are i believe.
