Ok this might sound weird But I consider Lil Wayne For the most part to be Hip-hop.. Heres my explanation.

We all know that he is pretty commercial and tries to be Gangsta and stuff like that. But i dont listent to his Studio albums AT ALL
His mixtapes got me hooked(Drought 3, Lil Weezyana, Gangsta Grillz)

The stuff he spits on his mixtapes and his studio albums is Tottaly Different... For example songs like:

Lightin up my(La La la)
Sportscenter
Bang Bang
Nasty
Sky is the Limit
Imagine
Upgrade you freestyle
Get out

I suggest you all listen to his mixtapes.. then reconsider

Kanye - I would say he was categorized in real hip hop. He does make songs relating 2 life issues so I would put him under real hip hop.

Common - He has a certain style and emotional outlook in his lyrics. He knows how 2 describe what he means and get str8 to the point in his songs. Real Hip Hop right here, definitely.

Talib Kweli - Has a certain spiritual aspect in his lyrics. He addresses certain problems in society and has great wordplay in his lyrics. A Hip Hop Veteran right here.

Lil Wayne - A commercialized rapper with skill, but he lacks the ability 2 explain how he really feels about certain situations and his subject matter in his songs isn't all that great. Not real hip hop.

I say they all are, minus Jeezy, Wayne, and Consequence.
Doesn't mean I don't like them(I don't like Jeezy however.) I just dont think there true hip hop. Consequence is that style just not at that high a level. And Wayne's swagger and flow are great, just too commercial to be real hip hop. I do enjoy hi though.

Morning Tambo! you already know i like hip hop! yet i think of maximum people who don't do as you pronounced and use the comparable previous drained excusses of ways this is no longer music it extremely is to violent etc purely say that cuz they have under no circumstances fairly listened to hip hop. Or could I say actual hip hop. it extremely is stressful to assert the belongings you hear on the radio is actual hip hop cuz all of us understand this is no longer. via no potential is soulja boy and his stupid dances hip hop. Lolli pop isn't hip hop...etc... I paintings in an exceedingly upscale place of work of which i'm the only man or woman of shade I constantly have some music enjoying from my computer. The proprietors son got here to my table for some place of work work and the Black Album improve into enjoying. What greater am i able to Say began to play and he knew the 1st few bars of the outlet verse...I pronounced boy do I play this that a lot which you already know the words, he then tells me he has the grey album yet fairly purely likes that music cuz of the beat used on the grey album for it. I asked did you ever take a seat and hear the lyrics? He pronounced no why could I this is purely a music approximately some drug broker :( I advised him that improve into no longer what that music improve into approximately and he could supply it a hear print out the lyrics and carry on with alongside. I doubt he ever did! i'm additionally an exceedingly enormous fan of rock music which improve into stressful due the fact I grew up interior the "ghetto" and no one listened to that "style" of music. i improve into in many situations called the darkest white lady interior the initiatives cuz i could have hip hop on side A of the tape and rock on side B (yeah back interior the day we used tapes LOL) My factor is until eventually finally you hear to the music and totally understand the words being pronounced you could under no circumstances make or bypass judgement on a style of music! Kanye- Good artist, but him being conceited gets in the way sometimes and he slacks off, and it shows, but overall, good emcee

Commom- good emcee, one of the best at what he does, sends out a good message with lyrical ability

Talib Kweli- same as Common

Lil Wayne- average at best, highly over-rated, not really that good, and DEFINATELY NOT Hip-Hop (Report me if u want, but its the truth)

Nas- Good emcee, not as great as everyone makes him out to be, but still way above average, is falling off though

Jay-Z -Great hip-hop artist.... and real wit it, definately one of the best

Consequence- No Comment

Jeezy- is NOT Hip-Hop, repetitive, below average rapper, not versatile, basic (Report me if you want, but like Wayne, its the truth)

Little Brother- No Comment

NO hip-hop is NOT dead, its NOT dying, its just havin bad representation at the moment

Kaney - I like him. I think he's hip-hop/rap. I would say he's pretty real cuz of his voice and beat.

Common - I don't know, but alot of people like him and I guess say he's real hip-hop. I would say he's real scince alot of people do.

Talib Kwell - Don't know him.

Lil' Wayne - I do like him some. He's rap I think. He kinda joins today's music. He's kinda like today so I would say yes to what these people call real hip-hop maybe rap tho, but he does have a hip-hop voice.

Nas - He said hip-hop is dead so I'll say he's not today's hip-hop. So maybe he's real hip-hop.

Jay-Z - I kind like him he's rap/hip-hop he kinda joins todays hip-hop in some of his songs, but the beat of his songs are kinda of a hip-hop beat and his voice is more like rapper. I don't know if he's real real hip-hop maybe sometimes tho.

Consequence - Don't know him.

Young Jeezy - He's ok, but he is a rapper more then a hip-hopper I think cuz he's always talking about the streets and stuff. I would say real rapper then real hip-hopper.

Little Brother - Don't know his eigther.

No hip-hop is not dead it's just going though a change and I think some people does regular hip-hop sometimes I bet.

Kanye is a hell of a producer and as much as he gets to me with his whinning he has some lyrical skills. He touches up on issues that exist in out life and society. (HIP-HOP)

Common is an incredible MC I felt that way since he first came out. He is somewhat unique with his style. (HIP HOP)

Talib great lyricist, he is definately a slept on MC. He can do love tracks, mellow chill tracks to wild out hardcore tracks. (HIP HOP)

Lil Wayne..........I have tried to listen to him to see what people love about him, but I can't. His lyrics are off, repetitive as someone else said, and sometimes his analogies just don't make any damn sense. It rhymes, but it does not make sense. (NOT HIP HOP)

Nas..Illmatic a classic and that was his first album. He had a few commercial cd's that he admits was embaressing for him, but he found his way back to his lyrical skills that he has always posessed. Much wiser, and creative. He did not let himself forget what hip hop really is. Jay almost ruined him, but he fought back and reinvented himself. The man is (HIP HOP)

Jay, his first few cd's were wild. My favorite was Reasonable Doubt. I thought his rhymes were just crazy. That cd was on point. Even the few commercial albums he had were good. When it comes to dissing tracks he can ruin careers literally. (HIP HOP)

Consequence & Little Brother, love them. You really have to be into hip hop or underground to kow them. Seriously overlooked. Great lyrical abilities. Stop sleeping on them people...(HIP HOP)

Jeezy, he has some lyrical flow. I listen to him. Not fond of his commercial hits, but he has potential. I can consider him hip hop. Maybe some won't agree with me but I like him. He has yet to make an album that I can sit and listen to every track without skipping, but he is still relatively new to the game so only time will tell. (HIP HOP)

I don't think hip hop is dead. Nas saying it is was more of a way to make MC's think and step up their game, and call out those studio MC's.

HIP HOP:
Pharoahe Monch, Mos Def, Wu-tang, Aesop Rock, Termanology, Immortal Technique,Lupe, EPMD, Twista, just to name a few. Not my entire list.
