Just like there are wacko's n the right so there are too on the left, trying to brand a group as entirely this or that is really pretty STUPID is you ask me, first off the majority of liberals don't hold the positions you describe I know I'm a liberal and so are most of my friends, and GUESS WHAT I own guns, I eat steaks, I smoke (wish I could quit that one though), I own a manufacturing company and a whole bunch of other stuff I bet you think we don't do, don't letting either talking heads are a handful of extremists fool you because in reality much like the racists of the world you become the real FOOL

I'm sorry I must have missed the memo were they said we should ban meat consumption, tobacco use or set emissions laws that are more stringent than the ones we already have. I believe they are just informing people to try to limit these things. For heavens sakes quit smoking , it is really bad for your health. But at least they didn't get us into a war that has caused us billions of dollars and thousands of lives just because they wanted to. Maybe it would have been better to go after Bin Laden instead.

Very few Democrats want to ban meat. Some make the choice to not eat meat, themselves. Same with tobacco. Workers have the right to work in a healthy and hazard free environment. This means free of second hand smoke. You have the right to commit slow suicide in your own private space. You do not have the right to kill me, or members of your family, or the general public. Since we are going to end up paying for smokers expensive end of life health care, a hefty tax on tobacco, to cover health care is fair. Many liberals do ride bikes, use public transportation, and car pool. Individually they are doing their part. Setting emissions standards only makes sense. We all have to live in this world. If we can have cars that put out less pollution, that only makes sense. We know that at this point fossil fuel transportation is a necessary evil. We might as well make them as fuel efficient as possible. Your right to pollute ends where the rest of our rights to clean air and water begin.

I don't know. How crazy to think that "peace and wellness" is incompatible with torturing animals, slitting their throats or dismembering them alive, and then slicing them into nasty blood- and steroid-filled patties to be fried up and served to an American's fat ***? Crazy liberals at it AGAIN.
I don't know of any liberals who want to ban tobacco use. The ones with common sense support recent legislation that bans smoking in public places, meaning that taxpayers have a right to have a smoke-free environment.
And I doubt that the multi-billion dollar production plants will suffer much from emissions laws.
How sad that you consider common-sense rules to be "militant". Such is the logic of a conservative.

Libertarians like to maintain a short list of principles and hold tight to those principles, working hard to fit solutions around the core principles. To review them, here is the shortest list I know:
- The minimum possible Government.
- The maximum personal freedom (that doesn't infringe on anther's equal freedom).
- No use of force in the pursuit of political or social ends.
- Free and open markets.

I've never heard of a liberal wanting to ban meat consumption. We regulate emissions and tobacco because that stuff goes into the air and makes everyone sick - kids, animals, adults, etc.
Funny, you say "You can't make the world perfect and even if you can, it's no ones right to do it with force." Isn't that exactly what the Republicans have been trying to do (and failing) in Iraq for 5 years?

In the great 1960's musical "Camelot", King Arthur sings about the advice Merlin the Magician gave him: "Don't be too distraught if you don't understand what a woman is thinking. They don't do it very often".
If you want to keep your sanity, substitute the word "Liberal" for "woman". There is no logical accounting for the heinous hypocrisy of Liberals.
You cite exactly the problem with Libs: they think they can make the world perfect, but they inevitably end up making a far bigger mess of things. One undeniable point: if back in the 1970s, Libs hadn't succeeded in halting the construction of any more nuclear reactors, we would be energy sufficient by now. France pursued nuclear energy, and we could be in their position right now. We wouldn't have to import a drop of Middle Eastern oil.
Oh Merlin, why couldn't you have turned all the Libs into nice shade trees or something?

first off... it's not that common... and people call me liberal all the time... and I don't think like this... sounds like "conservative propaganda" of "they all think this way"...
but... the way you say "propaganda" you seem to be implying that what they are saying is not true?
is tobacco good for you? are car emissions good? (try visiting LA, if you think so).. and meat has some studies that say it's bad...
and just as a point... who set emission standards first? liberal states (which if you have them, you don't really need a bike)...
and most liberals who are against meat, don't eat it... and most who are against smoking... don't smoke?
and your last line is just a sad rationalization... kind of like how they did in the 1700s... "slavery isn't good, but you can't MAKE people not have slaves"
where exactly do you get your information? voices in your head? and "we" need to get "our facts" straight...

Give me some proof that liberals want to militarily ban anything. I am a liberal, I ride my bike instead of driving whenever I can, however the republican controlled state I live in won't cough up the dough to add a bike lane to all the new construction they are doing. What's so wrong about emissions standards? Is it so wrong to want to be able to breathe fresh clean air. Go back to your hole con.

militantly ban red meat from your diet?....no,no,no, you go ahead and eat all the red meat you can get, and beer, and chewing tobacco, but when you get really sick with heart disease and cancer, remember your conservative mantra of individual responsibility and taking care of yourself without any help from your community and don't come running to some liberal funded health service.....or you could listen to good advice and live a longer, healthier life.....actually practicing individual responsibility and taking care of your self!
