Why do humans think they own anything?
We own nothing at all, not even our life.
Unless you have the cash to pay straight out you don't own anything tangible such as a house or a car... the bank owns them and most of us now adays will probably die before a home is paid off. Then even if you do own it and you don't pay the taxes... that is gone too.
Anything we may own is temporary... once we die it is either passed down or sold to pay off the things we thought we owned but still owed on when we died.
We can't even own our thoughts because something or someone always has some form of influence over what we think whether we want to believe that or not...
So how can humans think they own life when life is composed of more than humans? Life owns us.

Not every human being realises what they're part of. (considering the whole existence of everything from beginning to end) and the part they play. They see what they "need" now in order to survive; "lets dominate everything whilst we have the upper hand". But man, look down on the Earth, we're just like a nest of ants. Our petty sky scrapers, fighting, cars, etc, some of it may "help" us progress in the short term, but what is Mother Earth saying to all of this....? I think it's time we all listened to our hosts scream, or at least gave some appreciation for all she has offered and given us.
Back to the question, we managed to get to the top of the food chain, now we think as a species the world revolves around us. .. Again.. Bigger picture.

In the days of slavery humans did own life.
There is slavery today as well.
A pimp or people trafficker perhaps will feel they own life.

How many more times does a natural disaster have to occur to make humans realise how much of life is out of our ultimate control.

Man is just arrogant.

This is not a real question that can be answered with any information from the internet or anything...it can only be stated as opinion.
My opinion is only egotistical maniacal lyin' schemin' greedy tricksters think they own life.
I know it's a gift, and I am not going to waste it trying to be better than someone else.
Let them think they own it.

Because we are decendent from the cro-magnion species of the homo-sapein sapien. We are genrally more aggressive and dominant, we also believe ourselves to have higher intelligence than our fellow planatary species, though I'd love to see us pitted against a lion, lets see who has the superior genes then

I have never heard anyone proclaim that we humans own life, if you think about it that's totally impossible since life is an intangible. Also about the spellcheck thing I suggest you use it.

Life is wonderful, wake up and feel you live is great, I love my life, and I love the life of all humans and animals. Perhaps we have only one life, then I´ll live in the best way.

Because the bible tells us so. Well, I can remember being told this in junior school, a simple case of brain washing, as I realised when I grew older and was able to think for myself.
