Black Diamond by The Replacements or Coming Home by Cinderella....best 80s album goes to Tom Petty's Full Moon Fever.
Edit: Tex, The Wall isn't a song but an album and it isn't from the 80s....it came out in the 70s.

i love so many 80's songs and genres, it's difficult to decide, but i think i will choose ' Take on Me' by a-ha. i was a huge fan of them when i was about 11, and this song is just such an iconic mid 80's pop song.
some of my other favourite are :
there is a light that never goes out - the smiths
lucrecia my reflection - sisters of mercy
pictures of u - the cure
big area - then jerico
severina - the mission.

The 80's were my era. Absolutely hated the music in the 'charts' at the time.
Fav track: Nobody's Hero - Stiff Little Fingers (1980)
Charts: Fergus Sings the Blues - Deacon Blue (1988)
But I appreciate them more now, even "Through The Barricades" - Spandau Ballet - and for someone like me, who preferred Rock/Punk type stuff - that really is some admission

This is a very hard question to answer, the 80's produced some outstanding music. Be interesting to see what people come up with, as for me I have about 100 favourites.

There are too many good ones, depends on the mood.
Happy, optimistic: Gold by Spandau Ballet.
Lost Love: Leaving me now by Level 42.
Anything by Nick Kershaw, Joe Jackson, Howard Jones, Dire Straits.
For a good 80's boogie night it had to be KC and the Sunshine Gang. Great fun to dance to.
