My son is 4mos old and the infants are all in their own playpens....the problem is my son is a stomach sleeper, I have tried putting him on his back but he rolls back to his tummy. He can hold his head up very well and can roll both ways....would you be concerned to have your child sleep in a room or would you like them in the daycare owners view?? She has ran it this way for years I guess....

It will be fine. I work at a busy day care with this set up. It is best for everyone. The napping room has pocket doors on each side and we can always hear the babies if/when they wake up, plus there are windows in the doors we can peek thru or just go in to check on them. Most children sleep in their own room at home, why should it be different at day care? Do you stare at your son the entire time he sleeps? Not trying to be rude or mean, just making a point and trying to make you feel better. Also not all the babies sleep at the same time so it would be hard to be in the same room all day, expecially for a home day care. What would she do when she had to make lunch or change a diaper, roll the crib along with her??

Since you do have a baby that is a stomach sleeper, make sure you mention it to the caregiver. There's a supporter they are suppose to use to keep them from rolling over because of your child's age. Your baby should be in the caregiver's view at all times anyway. Why would she leave the babies unattended? Make sure she's following the rules regulated by the state.

I am a home daycare provider and the law states they have to be in the same room as you when they sleep. About the stomach sleeping issue..if he can roll over by himself you cant do much about making him sleep on his back.

I'd rather my child was in a sleeping room so the sounds of other children does not wake him. Doesn't she pop her head in every so often to make sure everything's okay? Sleeping on his tummy is fine if that's the way he wants it. He's very agile and he'll turn himself over anyway.

at my sons daycare, they have their own cribs.
they have to put the kids to sleep on their backs, but if they can roll over, then most likely they are able to roll to their backs.
At daycares, the children should be watched ALL THE TIME, and not in their own room.
I would want my child to be seen all the time.. and that he is.
Have you checked out the daycare inspection report for this person?
Trust your gut when it comes to child care providers. Ask others who use this place for their own children. if you dont like it, or have a bad feeling, then pick another place. But who in their right mind would leave a child unattended? Well, i guess im guilty, because my son sleeps in his crib, and i sleep in my bed.
Definately in view tho.

I have always had my (now 16mo.) daughter in her own room. The ONLY way that I would be concerned is if they didn't have a baby monitor. As for the back to tummy thing... there is nothing you can do about it. Your child will be fine!

As long as she sets up baby monitors everything sounds fine. And if he can lift his head as well as roll from both sides, he's not going to let himself suffocate.

My kids sleep in their own room at home so really I wouldn't expect anything diffrent in a child care center. I would make sure they have monitors in there and that they check on them while they are sleeping. Best wishes to you.

Sounds fantastic actually! That way your son isnt disturbed by other babies and actually gets his rest! Sounds to me like they are doing the right thing

They should be in view of the daycare workers at all times.
