The Democrats, because most working class folks are associated with unions, and the Dems are supported by unions.

The Democrats.

I could use history to make the point (The Democrats passed the Wagner act protecting workers' right to organize, while the GOP was responsible for the Taft-hartley Act that shifted most power back to employers, etc).

But lets stick to contemporary issues.

The Democratic party still supports worker's rights to organize. They also are the ones who have been strong supporters of legislation such as the Family Medical Leave Act. By contrast, the Republicans have been the architects of weakening the regulatory powers of such things ans mine safety oversight. The Democrats are the ones who passed an increase in the minimum wage.

I think i've made my point--both historically and in terms of contemporary issues, the GOP talks a lot. But when it comes to workers' rights and policies affecting the American worker, the substance is mostly on the side of th eDemocrats.

The libertarians. All the others are socialists, they want big government and social welfare. This hurt the working man by taking money from his paycheck and limiting his choices for life.
From a shallow perspective it looks like the other way because the lower classes receive more benefits from social welfare. But the facts are:
- A big part of welfare resources goes to non-workers or government workers that don't add to the general wealth.
- Taxation hits everyone, if not directly indirectly by increasing the prices of goods and services.
- Those with more money suffer more from direct taxation but the incidence of indirect taxation takes more, in percentage, from those with less money. In brief, the taxation system that looks so equitative is, in fact, taking a huge chunk from the working man and a thin slice from wealthy people.
- Government regulations on markets increase prices, reduce quality and options. For example, urban people pay the same for milk that people living next to the dairy factory. Urban people need special treatment, refrigeration, transport. Those living near the factory can go with a pot and buy untreated paying only a fraction of the urban price. Socialist regulation sounds fair but it's putting all the burden in the people with the lower income.
- Government "social crime" policies punish non-crimes committed by the lower classes. Crime is damage to other persons or their properties. All the rest is thought crime mostly. The drug war is a way to punish people for not fitting the "social standard", for crimes that they may commit eventually in the future. But the higher classes never ever pay for these "crimes" and nobody cares because there's no real crime there.

Libertarianism is about freedom and small government. There's nothing more fair than let you do what you want with your hard earned money. The working class knows how much a dollar is worth, it's measured in time spent working. It's estimated that about 60 to 70% of your income is going to the government. It means that for every hour you work you get paid for 20 minutes while the government takes the payment for the other 40.

Taking away the social safety net sounds scary but it's a better life.
From a principle perspective, it's freedom, the real one. Not the choice of watching Big Brother or the last gossip from Paris Hilton. Real freedom to make the choices that change your life.
From a practical perspective, you work hard for your money, you have the right to use it the way you see fit. You have the right to shop for your own health care. Eat, drink or smoke what you want. Educate your kids the way you want. It's a huge list of benefits you can get from freedom.
Support libertarians like Ron Paul

The Green Party. Dems and Republicans both support a capitalist system which treats workers like livestock. Want to give up your pension program to "remain competitive"? Go ahead. Want to layoff workers because your profit margin shrank to 30% from 31%? Go ahead. Want to slash health benefits in order to give your CEO a larger bonus? Sounds like a great idea! Want to sell faulty goods to kids in Bolivia? Be our guest!

The Green party is about more than the environment. It is about a fair and living wage, health care and high quality education for all. It's about social justice and openness in government. The two major parties are about keeping the status quo and finding ways to line their own pockets. BTW, since unions don't represent the majority of Americans anymore (we can't compete globally if we have to meet our union standards), then the unions aren;t the best gauge of who supports working class folks.

Usually it's the political party that has a left-wing stance.

Therefore, speaking as an observer, I would have to say neither, since the Democrats are slightly to the right and the Republicans just slightly to the right of the Kaiser.

The Democrats have always been the party of Labor and Unions. The Republicans have always been the party of big business. When it comes to protecting wages, benefits, job security, and the rights of workers Democrats have been the ones. Democrats support the right to organize and collective bargaining. The Republicans have stood for protecting profits and opposing regulations to ensure worker safety and health. Republicans believe in the rights of businesses to pollute, while Democrats protect the environment.

Both do, but in different ways.

Both want improvement in education. Dems want to throw more money at the existing system. GOP wants to change the existing system.

Both want to help the little guy get a job. Dems think job training and public assistance is the answer. A better trained worker is better able to get a job. GOP thinks tax incentives to business are the answer. A thriving business is more likely to hire more people.

Both want to put more money in your pocket. Dems want to do it by taxing the rich (actually upper middle class and richer) and redistribute to the poor. GOP wants to just let everyone keep more of their hard earned money with tax cuts.

That depends. Last check the Working Class was about 60% of the GOP Vote while 60% of the Dem Vote was Welfare. So essentially the GOP represents the true Working Class Vote.

I would have to say Democrats. They are willing and they do help out the middle class and most working class Americans are Democrats. I still think we need more moderate Democrats or Republicans though because they see both sides of the issues more clearly. Maybe once the real Republicans push these Conservative extremists out of their party they will be able to be the party better represents working class America.

The socialist party.
Though that seems unlikely to happen you pretty much have to go with the democrats. The republicans want the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer.
