Can you gather enough to make a 'scrapbook' of your life with your dad in it? You can use pictures, drawings, quotations ... but THAT will be 'more meaningful' to your dad than any gift you could 'buy' ... even if you just use 'typing paper' and put holes in and tie it with string ... because YOU made it, and you are 'showing him' that while he may have 'lost everything' he did a 'good job' raising you!

It's sweet of you that your Dad means this much to you!

Last year my Dad had a house fire, and everything got burnt. He lost everything. That christmas I bought a big basket and filled it with photo's of his family, his favourite biscuits and wine, hot chocolate, candy, aftershave, deodorant and things I knew he'd love. I also put some of his favourite CD's in there that had got burnt, he loved it - why not try that and fill it with things your Dad loves?

Why not buy a nice photo album and fill it with pictures of you and him? You could also try buying a swiss army knife (always come in useful and are cool too) and maybe get it engraved with his name?

Guys love engravings, as it makes it personal. You could get a pocket watch, cigarette lighter, etc engraved.

If not you could try something a little more traditional like a tie?

Good luck and happy holidays!

Hello,
Try and find any thing you can about what explains what he is worth. Or arrange a day/night out to a place that he's always liked to do or is intrested in.
I bet what would make him happiest is seeing and being with you over the christmas..
I really WISH you both all the best and hope things turn out ok for you!!!!!!!!!

Let him know how you feel from your heart. Try this website, this is their wedding page, but you can go from there. I would choose a heart shape wind sail for your dad.

http://www.chimesofyourlife.com/Weddingwindchimes.html

This company sells wind chimes that you can have inscribed with your feelings, blessings, and love.

They have a great selection of sizes, colors, wind sail shapes, and they even give you examples of things to say if you cant think of something.

do up a collage or scrape book of pictures from happy times. Get them from other family members or wherever you can.
Make sure you take some now of the two of you to go into it.

dose he mention anything he misses having?

Take him out for dinner or just to the park - just the two of you. Your Dad will really appreciate if you set aside some of your time to spend with him instead of your friends.

How about a couple of outfits, cologne, or maybe even a gold watch if you can afford it & a card that shows that you appreciate him and that you are sensitive to his situation.
