I have a few ideas, but only from an outsiders perspective. Anyone know any good directional sites? I think I:

1. Move to _________?
2. Get a talent agent?
3. Hire a photographer so I can put together a porfolio?
4. Create profiles for casting sites?

Is anyone experienced in starting an acting career? What steps did you take to get into film? (That's what I'd like to do, get into actual films that will be shown in theaters, not stage productions).

I wish you well. Here are some suggestions for you starting out.

1 - you don't have to move anywhere. In fact, it's better to build a resume in the town you live in, so you have some experience before heading to a big city where you'd go up against more experienced competition.

2 - do you have any acting experience? If so, put a resume together & shop it to the local agencies. They will want to see your work, so get your work onto tape/dvd.

If you don't have anything on tape/dvd (or have limited experience), I'd invest in some good acting classes for film & tv. You'll learn how the industry works & they usually put your work on tape & you can show that to potential agents.

3 - you don't need a portfolio to be an actress (that's more a modelling thing), but you will need a few good headshots, so shop around & get recommendations for photographers in your area.

4 - once you get an agent, they will help you creat profiles on the casting sites. That's their job & they'll know how to market you.

Best of luck!

Yes, to go into film, you definitely need an agent and a headshot. Your agent will have advice on casting sites and the like.

Do you have any acting experience yet? If not, you may have to take some jobs that are not ideal to get some.

Like everyone else, you want to put the cart before the horse. You're worried about pictures and "hiring" an agent before you have learned how to act. Do that first. You'll learn what you need to know in acting school.

How old are you and where do you live? You needn't move to get a careeer started. You don't hired a talent agent. You needn't hire a photog for a portfolio. And you want to avoid casting sites.

I teach actors how to have a career and I do it for nothing.

click on my name, read my profile and write me at my aol address.. if you are not 18, you must have your parents' support for your trying to become an actor.
