You can APPLY for a personal loan if the bankruptcy was discharged yesterday. After for years, your chances of being approved are no worse than if you had no credit history at all. They may be slightly better because you can't go bankrupt for another 4 years.

Personal loans normally carry a higher rate of interest. This is because of the higher risk potential in such loans. One may also be overcharged on this account. The borrowers are asked to pay a hefty charge and have to face some inflexible terms of payment. Nevertheless, there are lenders who charge reasonably lower rates of interestcomfort and a future comfort also leads to this trap. Deciding the monthly repayments and the number of installments further strain your mental faculties. An expert advice from knowledgeable people will help in this decision. Being aware of ones financial condition, the borrower can decide the various details of the loan in a much better manner. Thus, the final decision is reserved with the borrower himself.

>Beware of Advance fee Loan scams.
LOAN SCAM - Do Not Pay UpFront Fees.
Do not send money UpFront via Western Union or MoneyGram to any person or business in the UK, Nigeria or Canada in hopes of getting a loan. If you do you will learn a hard lesson & never see any Loan money.
To Avoid scams here is what i tell people...
All spam emails/unsolicited phone calls/letters and faxes are scams.
As a general rule - ANYTHING involving Western Union/money gram = Scam.
my Advice: Don't deal with anyone out of state or from a foreign country or Accept or cash checks from strangers and never use wire/bank transfer services.. you risk losing your $$ and your mind.
Remember, if it sounds too good
to be true, it probably is! NEVER(ever) give out your personal information to strangers online or offline! Always be on guard.

If you filed bankruptcy, no bank will give you a loan. However -- and this is a HUGE however -- if when you filed, your inability to pay your bills WASN'T credit card related [like a sudden sickness in the family, etc] -- then look online for a "secured" credit card. Secure means the money comes directly from your bank checking account, sort of like a debit card, only not. You can look up secured cards online, but whatever you do, do NOT fill the applications out online. As I mentioned earlier to a different question, it is the type of info identity thieves droll over. ANYTHING that is personal to you -- social security #, driver's license info, credit score, credit card numbers, ATM PIN numbers, etc -- is too much to keep stored online. Passwords are succeptible as well. Too many people use their pet's name, spouses name, or digits from their social security numbe as passwords, and are easy for hackers/thieves to guess. Look at it this way -- in cyberspace, NONE of your personal info is safe.
