Details....

This is my first month off of birth control pills....today is when my period "due date" is....instead I had a SURGE of mucus-like fluid (no blood, no pink coloration) and intense cramping early this morning....

I am married...have no STDs, etc....the mucus does not have an odor at all....so my guess is ovulation??

LMP was August 16th...4 weeks ago....this is why it's confusing me as to why it could be ovulation.

Any thoughts?

The body will need some time to adjust. If you think of it, the pills were somewhat overriding the body and doing the job for the reproductive system the entire time you were on them...so now it's going to take a period of adjustment to get back to doing it's own thing! Cycles could be irregular for a bit...sounds like it's ovulation and it could also be just vaginal 'cleansing' which the body does regularly anyway. Just keep a calender and see how you feel etc.....always check with your doc if you have questions. Overall it sounds pretty normal.

Could be spinnerbarkheit, which is the mucousy film seen during ovulation.

Just checking, your not pregnant are you? It is always a possibility when stopping birth control.

Your periods may be very irregular when stopping the birth control, as you are taking supplemental hormones away from your body. It will need to adjust.

It could be ovulation. After getting off pills, it takes awhile for your horomones to get back on schedule.

If you are that worried, you could always call your doctor.
