I bought a 1998 Infiniti I30 arround May 2007 a little after two months the AIR BAG LIGHT came on. I did some research about it on line and I found a forum discussing the subject where more Infiniti owners where complaining about the same. There was a procedure on line to follow if your car did that. The procedure was to turn off the engine triger the door switch and turn on engine. It worked it turned the light off. But my question is what will happen if I was in a accident? And is it really the air bag or just a sensor? I mean alot of owners were complaining about the same. Can all of them have bad air bags?

More likely the sensor; call the dealership you bought it from and ask for service or write the corporation itself...they often have many answers and perhaps it is a thing that will need to be recalled if indeed the airbag will not work in an accident; better to do it now than wait to find out.............

Airbags have a definite shelf life. They are suppose to be inspected at the 10 year mark by a professional to ensure the air bag is safe and will deploy appropriately. After the 10 year mark, they are suppose to be inspected again every other year and replaced if necessary.

The airbag in your car typically won't last the life of the car, and keeping an old airbag in the vehicle without getting it inspected can be dangerous.
