Yes, I believe that we do it all day long very often on the subconcious level.
It is linked to our survival instinct and defence mechanism..
So I believe I am both.

If religion didn't rely on psychological manipulation like argument from authority, following authority (like in the Milgram test), fear of the unknown, and childhood indoctrination, it would just be a bunch of myths and legends nobody believes in anymore (like Greek mythology which use to be the religious beliefs of the ancient Greeks). Once people stop believing in religion as the truth, then the superstitions, myths, and irrationality behind religions become very apparent. Of course, I still respect religion BUT only as a system of cultural traditions BUT not the TRUTH and REALITY.
