It seems to me that when ever the Europeans needs us the USA is their favorite people but once the danger passes then we are the scum of the earth. Maybe we should have just let Hitler have their way with them. The created the problem maybe we should have let them solve it.

Well, yes - both before and after.

You see Britain has the luxury of technically not being part of Europe and the US didn't "save" us from the Nazis. We did that on our own (see Battle of Britain for reference).
Plus if any country has the right to look down its nose at you it's us, considering you decided to help rebuild Germany and hand over cash willy-nilly to any country that would provide a defence to the "scourge of communism" but gave us the big fat finger when we were in a worse state than anyone because we had elected a socialist government in '46.

But anyway, we don't look down our noses at you really. We just laugh at some of you by the way you get your knickers in a twist if someone dares to criticise the US.

Blame Charles DeGaul. He had the world's biggest nose and looked down it a lot.

Typical American. The Europeans don't harp on about liberating your sorry asses from the British, because as we all know the Americans would never be free if it wasn't for French assistance. I bet that stings.

do remember, fellow americans, if it weren't for us europeans, you wouldn't exist at all.
and as a reference, europe had survived much longer under many good, bad, and awful leaders. i highly doubt it would succumb to ruins if america hadn't been there for the past 200 years to "save the day" (and that is only after american goals were tampered with).
a rather negative perspective, most definitely, but it is the only one adequate as a response to such a ludicrous question.

You should have learned that at least, in elementary school.
Maybe somehow you got left behind.
