i have a widescreen monitor 16:10 and when i set resolution to 1440 x 900 pixels it misses part of the screen on the right and left and has to scroll there. what is going on? this is on the desktop
i want this resolution for video games and when i go into CS:S and set it up with widescreen 16:10 1440 x 900 it also scrolls side to side.
any suggestions? or should i give up and leave it as is?

It is your video card that is doing this.
Dos it pan and scan top and bottom too? Or just side to side?
Try updating your video drivers.
Make sure that the monitor is being recognized. In the Display Properties Settings Tab, it should say Plug and Play Monitor on XXXXXXXX
If it does not, change the monitor drivers to the plug and play ones.
