is grey could i possibly paint or spray this black of course it would have to be safe or is this not advisable it would be the outer surround that goes on the wall

Number 2 has a valid thought, Contact the manufacturer, or some similar. With a gas fired, the heat is more narrowly focused, and directed, so it may not be an issue...........Especially since the facing is within an area that could cause BURN damage, that they used a fire resistant paint or baked it on. If in fact paint would blister on the facing, so might ones hands.

Obviously there are such paints sold that you can spray on, and can be happy with.

Just a wee bit more research and you're going to "LOVE" your new "Appliance" even more.

Most car accessory shop sell sprays of black heat-proof enamel. This is designed for steam boilers and it's used for exhaust tail-pipes. It would be safe to use that, but make sure you don't block any holes and leave it a week to dry.

They do make a paint just for wood stoves and fire boxes. Check out the local hardware store.

Not complicated. Barbecue suppliers have black heat resistant paint that will be safe.

You dont say what it is made of but it should be far enough from the heat source not to be affected
