i do agree for the most part. i think alot of people get lipo for all the wrong reasons. And you're right, they go about eating crappy foods and wonder why they gain the fat back.
having said that though, there are a few people who have worked out hard, eaten a very healthy diet and they still have fatty pockets on certain body parts. thanks to genetics. so i understand if someone's done all they can possibly do, but still have trouble areas that they just wont be content with.
i personally think it's dangerous, and most of the time, hard work will make the world a difference.

Here's the theory. You are born with a certain number of fat cells, that much is fact. Removing some of these cells reduces your overall number of fat cells, that is also true. Now here's the ''catch''. Fat cells start out microscopic, that is they are so small they can't be seen with the ''naked'' human eye. As your body stores more and more fat in these cells they get bigger and bigger. Some fat cells have been measured at over 2 inches in width! So you are right in a way, even though you get rid of some of the storage cells the remaining ones will compensate by getting larger. :)

Doctors can only remove a certain amount of fat during the procedure, due to AMA guidelines. For the average person needing to get rid of a little fat...it's effective only if you adhere to certain lifestyle changes post-procedure. If you don't exercise and over eat, it'll all come back.

Well, on some level, it falls under the category of maintenance. You shave your legs, even thow the hair grows back right? In this case, you can radically change your lifestyle so that the fat doesn't come back. Although, I think it's best for excessively heavy people (which represent 2/3 of the US btw.

guess what, you have the same number of fat cells all your life, they just get bigger if you get fatter. So, where liposuction is performed, you do not get larger there, but anywhere else you have fat cells will then get ridiculously larger and the person ends up looking terribly misshapen. Only people who can stabilize their weight at a healthy level should even consider liposuction, it is for scultping the body, not for weight loss at all.

Yes, it is pointless. That's why most people have to go back multiple times, because the fat just comes back.

Yes, it's pointless. I read about a girl who was 18, and she died from it. Other women said the fat did just come back. Please, just work out and eat healthy, don't get surgery. It's not good for you.

it is a quick fix to remove fat cells, all the fat cells will come back unless you work out and eat properly, it can be used as a jumpstart for someone to become active to maintain it, or continue to sit on your butt and it comes back.
Some fat cells leave and easily can return =) sucks
