This is straight from the State of Georgia consent law as provided by the state's website:

Section 16-6-3.
(a) A person commits the offense of statutory rape when he or she engages in sexual intercourse with any person under the age of 16 years and not his or her spouse, provided that no conviction shall be had for this offense on the unsupported testimony of the victim.

You are sixteen years old.

Not if you started having sex once you were already 16. The age at which you can legally consent to have sex in Georgia is 16 so he could not go to jail. She MIGHT be able to make a case if you just turned 16, and were already having sex but it isn't likely.

Please consider adoption if you decide you cannot raise a child. There is a family out there who would gratefully provide a loving home for your child and pay the cost of your pregnancy related medical care.

The age of consent in the State of Georgia is 16, so long as he is under 24 (I just looked it up).

So if you and your bf had sexual relations when you were 16 and a pregnancy resulted, there is no issue of Statutory Rape. Your Mom cannot have your bf arrested. Also, no one can force you to have an abortion. Absolutely no one!

With that said, you must now make adult decisions for yourself. I suggest you see a counselor so that all options can be explained to you. You can go on your own, your Mom cannot go with you unless you want her to. You can get free services & counseling from Planned Parenthood or Birthright. Check your phone book for the nearest local offices.

Your mother has no right to tell you what to do with your body. That is your baby not hers. If you want to keep and raise the baby you can. No abortion doctor is going to kill a child if you don't want them to. Secondly about the boyfriend. Look for the age of consent law in your state. Your mother can not throw your boyfriend in jail if you don't get an abortion. She is only trying to threaten you. You can try to get emancipated but you have to prove that you are living with someone or have a job and can take care of yourself.

If you really want to keep this baby you need to find a place other than your moms to live. Talk to your boyfriend's parents. There are also shelters for young mothers in most places. You need to be in a supportive atmosphere, and sounds like you aren't. And she can't if your sixteen at the time that you got pregnant. The age of consent in Gorgia is 16 years old. She would have to prove that you were engaged in sexual relations with him prior to you turning 16. So, she is bluffing.

age of consent in GA is 16. if you were 16 when you got pregnant, your mom can't do anything about it. Your bf will not get in trouble. If you were having sex before you turned 15 while he was 18..technically he could get into trouble but your mom has no way of proving that. dont worry about it. your mom is just upset. she will get over it. dont worry about your mom and just start focusing on your future and the future of your baby. although im sure you are scared to death right now...rest assure that you will be fine. teen moms give birth everyday. you can still do everything you want to do in life. dont let your mom get you down. this was gods plan for you and now you are going to be responsible for another human life. you have been blessed.

In accordance with the FBI definition, statutory rape is characterized as non-forcible sexual intercourse with a person who is younger than the statutory age of consent.
Sixteen is the age of consent in Georgia.

Please remember that your mother loves you and is just reacting right now. Give her time and stay calm.
I wish you all the luck in the world...

I don't know about Georgia, but I know in Massachusetts as long as you're over 16 and he's under 21, there's no way he can go to jail. I hope that this is the way it is for you. Good luck, hun.

look up the statutory rape laws in your state. Chances are she can not do anything.

here it is:

Georgia

§ 16-6-3
Statutory rape to have sexual intercourse with someone under age 16.
One to 20 years in prison, but (1) 10 to 20 years if the offender is age 21 or older and (2) up to one year in prison if the victim is age 14 or 15 and the offender is no more than three years older.

So since you are not under 16 then its legal. Tell mom to get used to the name "grandma"
