So I'm 20 weeks pregnant and I don't really know if what I'm feeling is my baby moving or not. I've read on here about how people say it feels like a butterfly fluttering or a little fish swimming around but how else would you explain what your little one felt like moving around inside you?? Every now and then I feel these little weird hard to explain things below my belly button on my left and right side. I wouldn't say its painful or uncomfortable...just odd. Not like the feeling feels good or anything but it doesn't hurt...I don't know how to explain it :) This is my first pregnancy so I really have nothing to compare to either.

So....back tot he question....how would you explain what your baby felt like moving around inside you?

Thanks!!

This is my first, too... I'm about 24+ weeks along.
I had no idea at first what I was feeling, because there are the stretching sensations you feel as your uterus grows, and then there are the baby movements. To me it felt like a little tickle or a flutter.
Now I can DEFINITELY tell when it's the baby moving, and my husband even felt it with his hand for the first time last night!! :)

If you are getting a little bump back and froth from side to side or top to bottom your baby has the hiccups (that's a great sign) that means they are developing well and practicing what they should be practicing.

The first few movements felt a little like butterflies, or that antsy feeling you get in your belly when you are nervous.

After that it starts to feel like something being poked from the inside..

hiccups i love and hate the feeling...its great when they are sideways but my lil one is already head down, and facing the back so when she gets the hiccups she bounces off my cervix up to my rib cage..kinda painful and very uncomfortable if I have just eaten.

I am sure what you are feeling is your baby - enjoy

good luck

It has actually been proven that the baby feels all of your emotions. So when you get happy, sad, angry, or any feelings the baby also feels that way. It is very healthy to be happy and laugh a lot and good for the baby.

To me it felt sort of like a "bubble" moving around...A bit like when you have lots of gas from eating something funny, that's what I thought it was but then within a week I felt it more and more...such a wonderful feeling :) *sigh* I felt it first around 20 weeks too so it's probably your baby moving! Wait a few day and you'll see :) Mine was kicking away day and night after that and even reacted to his dads voice when he talked to belly every night, dad talked-baby kicked (hard!) they were clearly communicating!

Congratulations and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!

I will be 20 weeks tomorrow and have been feeling my baby moving for the last 4 weeks. For me, it feels like several different things:

At first it felt like bubbles; then I started to feel swirling (like the baby flipping around)...next I started feeling actual pokes and little rolls (like if someone runs their hand down your arm)...just a light sensation.

The movements are starting to get more recognizable for me now that the little one is really giving some good pokes.

its not very easy to explain but if your feeling bubbling like movements possibly even what would feel like a tiny light kick then its your baby
I'm going to say it is anyway because at 20 weeks you should be feeling something and well if you have never felt it before then its sure to be your baby moving

I'm 19 weeks with baby #4 and have felt movement since 16 weeks now I'm getting very faint kicks but not alot and only a few times a day
all i can say is that as your baby grows it will feel stronger

Exactly what you are experiencing.

I remember being pregnant for the first time. People explained it to me as a butterfly or fish also. I wanted to make sure what I was feeling was what I was supposed to be feeling. Rest assured, it's normal and you are feeling little movements from your baby.

Just wait until you are further along and you feel the kicks. I used to lay in bed and just stare at my tummy and watch for a little foot or hand to push up through my belly. It really is fascinating.

You are experiencing something wonderful. Enjoy it...

Congratulations from a mother of three...

To me it felt like a ripple of or muscle twitch at first :)
I found the feeling got stronger as I talked to the baby! a little later on in the pregnancy if the baby was upset, she would calm down when I talked, or she'd wake up and move, stretching and turning over.

Sometimes instead of the little flutters, I would feel a rub against the back of my stomach going all the way down. Kinda like she was pushing and dragging whatever it is against the back side of my stomach.

Both times it felt much like what you described. I felt little twitches, pops, and teeny little pokes. Happy and healthy pregnancy to you!
