ok let me put this simple....when you drop it out the window the magic computer fairy will save it and give it back to you. once you have it back she will give you a lot of money. So go ahead, throw it out the window and see if she comes ;P

It would fall.

Ok, fine i'll brake it down.

It would likely rotate on descent to the rear of the case, where the power supply and expansion cards go. The corner it lands on will likely put a nice chunk into the ground, and dent the case.

The internals of the PC will be mostly ok, except. expansion cards will likely jar loose, the fan bearings may slip and not rotate properly. CD Drives will probably be ok, but may suffer bearing or spring issues on the laser.

The hard drive will likely be completely lost. The thin discs inside will probably crack and deffenetly scratch against the heads. Data recovery would be necessary.

This is all assuming your estimate of 7 feet is near true.

The PC should still boot, up POST code errors and probably to primary boot till the point it finds out the hard drive is dead.....

Now, throw it out and find out how close i am.

No problem it would survive the drop of 7 feet quite easily. It is just the sudden stop at the bottom that may cause some damage.

Due to the force of gravity, it would fall at the rate of 32 feet per second, per second. With only 7 feet to fall, it would only take just over a quarter of a second to hit the ground. (Be sure to unplug it first).

It might teach the computer to show some respect in the future. When my desktop starts to act up I hold it over a full bath tub and scream at it...

"Look here you mother (explicative) either you start to cooperate or theirs gunna be trouble, YOU HEAR ME!!!"

Works wonders

The Zen masters believe there is only one way to truley know a thing, by experience. I however, do not recommend throwing your computer out the window, unless your sure nobody is standing beneath it!

It would drop at the same velocity as a rock. The rock I think and the computer would shatter.
