This could be due to a fuel leak, which could be dangerous.
It could also be a defective sensor which is telling the computer to send more fuel to the engine than is needed. The excess fuel would make the engine run "rich". This would create a smell of gasoline.
Either way, have it checked at a GM dealer or qualified mechanic.

IT COULD BE MANY THINGS BUT THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY....AND IF NOT.

YOU SHOULD GET THE VEHICLES COMPUTER SCANNED AND CHECK FOR ANY PROBLEMS AS WELL AS CODES AND THEN YOU WILL HAVE A GOOD IDEA ON WHAT THE PROBLEM TRULY IS.

TRY FINDING AN INDEPENDENT SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR A CHAIN STORE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE OVERALL MORE PLEASED WITH THE FINDINGS AND THE SERVICE.

LEAVE IT THERE WITH THEM SO THAT THEY CAN FIND THE PROBLEM FOR YOU, IT WILL BE A LOT BETTER THAN JUST REPLACING PART AFTER PART AND NOT DOING ANY GOOD.

Because a fuel line has a leak or you ran over something and put a leak in your fuel tank.
