I'm in my third trimester and have been told that drinking red raspberry leaf tea, or taking the capsules would help smooth my uterine muscles which helps in the labour and delivery of the baby...
Out of all of you who took either the capsules or the tea... or both; when did you start taking it, did you go early or did it make a difference... what was your overall experience, and what would you recomend for me, and do the capsules work better than the tea??

I'm not particularly trying to induce myself, I just don't want to be in the delivery room for 19 hours again with my contractions constantly dying out!! (Talk about EXHAUSTING and frusterating!!)
Although a little early wouldn't be bad, I guess...

I drank the tea throughout my entire pregnancy at the advice of my naturopathic physician. I had a very smooth labor and delivery. Although I cannot be certain that the tea helped, I know it did not hurt.
And Finchy, this person is not asking how to induce labor. She is just asking about help to strengthen her uterine muscles to aide in a smooth labor and delivery.

I drank the tea cold as it tasted hideous hot!! My midwife advised me not to drink it until my 9th month so I waited until then. I was going to be induced because I was developing pre-eclampsia so the doctor recommended trying walking, driving down a bumpy road, hot curry, pineapple, and sex. My son was born a week early, I did try all these ideas but in the end I went into labour when I was sat watching a film! At least it keeps you busy but I'm not sure if these things really work!

If your ready to have that baby.....simply have sex......that's what I did. And that night my water broke and I was on my way to the hospital. I was also 41 weeks. Don't do it to early though. You should wait until you are at least 38 or 39 weeks. I tried those capsules and they did nothing. I'm not sure about the tea.

I have only used the tea, but my friend uses the capsules and loves them...It did not make me go into labor sooner, as it is not meant to and that is a myth. It goes give you more b/h contractions, and it does tone the uterus...Good stuff!

It's doubtful if all these herbal teas really have the properties they purport to have and I would go with Finchy's advice as she sounds like a ob/gyn, doctor or the mother of at least seventeen children! She's good....

I recommend yo do not take it at all - supplements like that are not regulated by the FDA - there are no studies to show what long term effects are associated with it. You are risking your babies and your health on a old wives tale
If you are just hoping to make labor faster and easier exercise and eat right
and here is a list of SAFE natural ways to induce labor
1. Have a warm bath to help you relax - the more tense you are the longer your body will fight off going into labor
2 Have sex - your husband needs to ejaculate inside of you and he needs to spend a lot of time playing with your nipples - nipple stimulation and a hormone in semen both help induce labor.
3. Lots and lots of walking - no more than an hour at a time (maybe 3 times a day) make sure you take water with you keep hydrated.
4. Eat some good food (thick soup, or a stew), and drink plenty of water - your body will refuse to labor if you are dehydrated.
Lastly do some deep breathing and meditating - your own mental state (being so anxious) can be a cause for your bodies lack of labor.
Good luck

The best supply booster I could find while I was nursing and pregnant was a big bowl of steel-cut oatmeal each morning. I made Alton Brown's crockpot recipe each week and warmed some up each morning. It made a good before-bed snack, too.

The tea tasted horrible so I took the capsules.
I started taking them at 36 weeks and my daughter was born on her due date-who knows if they did anything or not?
