My cousin is having a baby. SH ethinks it is a girl but she doesn't mind if it's a boy.

These are the names, what do you think?

Elsie Mai (G)

David is named after her dad....

Cameron David is nice. Love the special meaning behind David. ;)

Elsie is an adorable nickname, but I'd definitely use something like Elsa as the given name. It gives her the option to use either, especially if (when) she outgrows the childish Elsie, at least for public use. Certainly, her parents, siblings or close friends might always use the pet form, but it's nice to have Elsa to put on the resume, college application, office name plate, etc., right? ;) Mai seems very out of place here, but only because none of the other names are Asian. Assuming she IS Japanese or Vietnamese, I really like the nod to her heritage. Wonderful and meaningful! If she just thought it was pretty or was trying to use it as a creative spelling of May/Mae, well then I'd stick with one of those.

Hope that helps! ;)

I like the suggestion of using Elsa instead of Elsie. To me, the name Elsa has a softer, prettier sound than Elsie (also, I can't help but think of cows when I hear the name Elsie).

Cameron David is a lovely name.

Elsie mai is very redneck even hilbilly but if you all are country than it is cute. Cameron David is so far from elsie mai and so much better. The boys name i would stay with and the girls like i said if you all are red necks then go with that otherwise i'd change it.

I'm not a fan of Elsie but I like Mai...if it's pronounced May.

Those are fine names, I prefer Mae or May over Mai.

DO NOT NAME HER ELSIE. I know a grown woman who was named Elsie (which is after a cow, by the way). In 1st grade, she pleaded with her teacher to not call her Elsie because she always got made fun of because of the relationship to the cow, and just thought it was a horrible name. The teacher responded, "Okay, sugar", and this woman has been going by "Shoogie" (short for Sugar) for her entire adolescent, adult, and professional life / career. Please don't let your cousin name her daughter Elsie unless you want her to go by Shoogie or something else bizarre.

Good luck and God bless

Both of them are really cute but you can also se them on adults, so that's good! The only thing I would change is that I would prefer Mae or May to Mai.

Elsie and Cameron would be great brothers and sisters.

Another variation could be Elise, or Elyse if you decided Elsie reminded people of a cow...
I think they're both great names!

I like Cameron David

is Mai supposed to be pronounced "my"? it's cute if it is, but otherwise, perhaps she should spell it May or Mae. It's still a pretty name, though. But i'd prefer Elyse Mae, myself...

They're ok. I don't love them. Most people would see 'Mai' and pronounce it 'My' like the Mai Tai cocktails. I'm glad she doesn't mind if she has a boy, lol. Congrats and Good Luck to her!
